Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in turf care and facilities maintenance area preferred. 3. Knowledge of turf practices facilities maintenance practices and procedures. 4. Ability to perform General maintenance work on facilities. 5. Ability to manage turf care maintenance. 6. Ability to service grounds equipment. 7. Ability to make independent judgment concerning matters related to maintenance. 8. Experience in education environment considered a plus. Position Goal: Working closely with the Custodial / Maintenance supervisor, and in coordination with the Director of Facilities and other District staff, responsible for the overall maintenance and grounds, cleaning, safety, and daily operation of assigned District facilities, with the goal of providing a safe, clean, comfortable, attractive, and efficient educational environment. Reports to: Director of Facilities Supervises: Outsourced Grounds Contracts. (Mowing and snow removal) PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the overall grounds maintenance, safety, and daily operation of assigned District grounds / facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and tasks on set timeline as detailed on preventative maintenance schedule for the position.
  • Identify and perform minor maintenance projects as needed as detailed on minor maintenance schedule for the position.
  • Monitor and follow turf maintenance procedures through to conclusion.
  • Maintain facility security at all times.
  • Maintain safe work conditions and environment of assigned District grounds and facilities.
  • Responsible for timely removal of snow and ice from entrances, sidewalks, and parking lots of District facilities, not otherwise done by contract operators, so that facilities can be accessed and used in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for athletic field preparation for games and practices.
  • Work at after school meetings and events that occur at assigned District facilities as required and needed.
  • Be on call as required and needed before and after regularly scheduled work hours and on weekends and holidays to respond (by telephone, e-mail, text, or in person) to problems or issues with assigned District facilities, including snow and inclement weather.
  • Assure that all tools, power equipment are maintained in a safe and operable condition.
  • Follow-up on and correct as appropriate facilities related complaints from management and occupants of assigned District grounds / facilities; and communicate issues of concern to Custodial / Maintenance supervisor.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Using District software system (currently FMX), monitor and maintain systems for work orders, work logs, inspection and preventative maintenance schedules, and maintenance requests.
  • Using District software system (currently FMX), maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; and order replacement inventory as needed.
  • Prepare for and participate as part of inspections, reviews, and external audits of assigned District grounds / facilities.
  • Assist in the development of facility department team goals and priorities.
  • Assist as needed in the preparation of presentations and analytical reports.
  • Assist as needed in the development, preparation, monitoring, and revising of facility / grounds related budgets (including annual capital reserve and capital projects).
  • Assist as needed in preparing documents for bids, grants, and contracted services.
  • Prepare and submit reports and other documents as required.
  • Learn and understand all software and related software packages used by the facilities team to perform required duties.
  • Attend meetings and provide input as necessary.
  • Obtain and maintain work related certifications as may be required, and attend professional development training and workshops as necessary.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Facilities. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Terms of Employment: 12 month, 260 days/year School Year Work Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day (40 hours per week), Schedule with 30 minute unpaid lunch (start and end time vary with assigned District facility) Summer Work Schedule Monday – Thursday, 10 hours a day (40 hours per week), with 30 minute unpaid lunch (6:00 am to 4:30 pm) Job Classification Support Staff – hourly, eligible for overtime Physical Demands Lift and carry - up to 75 pounds on a daily basis. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, working outdoors, and driving. Office environment of sitting at desk and working on computer keyboard. Ability to:

Work Environment Ability to work in multiple environments on a daily basis, including but not limited to outdoors, indoors, school buildings, warehouse, office, retail stores, and meeting/conference space. Work conditions include, but are not limited to, outdoors in all types of weather conditions (bright sun, rain, sleet, snow, and excessive heat and cold), loud and constant noise, and excessive dirt, grime, and dust. Must submit to PA driver’s history clearance, with results acceptable to the District. Other Requirements Must obtain a certificate of medical examination as well as a tuberculosis test as required under Chapter 14 of the Public School Code, 24 P.S. §§14-1416, 14-1418; 22 Pa Code §49.12(b) (regarding education); and 28 Pa Code §23.44 (regarding health and safety).
