Job Description:
Responsible for teaching task based learning to high school students in grades 10-12 in the areas of basic health/clinical care skills, medical terminology, allied health, anatomy and physiology, muscular system, and physical therapy. The teacher will be responsible for preparing students for transitioning to be able to work in any health related career field with an emphasis on rehabilitation. At the end of the program students have the option to earn certifications as a Certified Personal Trainer or students can choose to enroll in the senior only EMT or CNA program if they can continue to fit the health care program into their schedules.
Requirements to teach this program:
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree prepared in their field of practice and have a current license/certification by the PA Department of State in one of the following areas: Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Program description: The program is a blend of Health Care Technology and Rehabilitation Aide. The program prepares individuals to apply knowledge and skills in the health occupations. Instruction is provided in the basic skills in a variety of areas associated with health occupations such as health and medical services, pharmaceuticals, and medical instruments and supplies. In addition, the program prepares individuals to assist in rehabilitation services under the supervision of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other therapeutic professionals, and to perform routine functions in support of rehabilitation. Includes instruction in roles and responsibilities of rehabilitation providers, basic function of the human body, disabling conditions, therapeutic skills, client management, and communication skills.
